Ephesians 1:17-19

May the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory,

give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation

in the knowledge of Him,

the eyes of your understanding being enlightened;

that you may know what is the hope of His calling,

what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

Proverbs 27:17

"As iron sharpens iron,

so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend."

One of God's most precious gifts to us is friends who encourage us and lovingly challenge us. According to scripture, a friend is one who challenges you to become all that God intends.

The mark of biblical friends is that their friendship draws you closer to Christ. They 'sharpen' you and motivate you to do what is right. It is equally important to examine the kind of friend you are to others. Strive to be the kind of friend that helps others become more like Christ.

Labor Day Weekend

We were only home for a few days, but we packed 'em full!

We had a blast taking a friend's go-cart for a lil' spin...

and sneaking in a quick kiss afterwards.

Ice cream, anyone?!

And there are huge advantages to having a brother who is a pilot...Josiah flew us to Mt. Pleasant on Sunday to surprise the rest of the Wissmann gang!

Dad always treats the family to hard served ice cream cones sometime during Old Threshers...looks like we picked a good day to be there!! [smile]

Monday we spent relaxing and hanging out with the Beasley's...

played LOTS of volleyball,

some baseball...

and even got in a good game of Settlers between the Beasley brothers.

If you seek Him

"The Lord is with you while you are with Him.
If you seek Him, He will be found by you;
but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you."
2 Chronicles 15:2

Our response to God greatly determines His presence in our lives. The Lord wants to have fellowship with us, but He will not force a relationship upon us. We cannot reject fellowship with God and expect Him to remain near. He does not merely follow us throughout our day in case we need His assistance. It is an affront to sovereign God to treat Him like a servant who should wait upon us. God desires a close walk with us. He will make His presence real and personal if that is our desire.

Do you say you want to experience God's presence while your actions reveal otherwise? If you say you want to know God better but neglect studying His Word, are you truly seeking Him? Have you regularly forsaken the place of prayer?

We are to continually seek Him, not content to enter a new day without the assurance that God is walking beside us.

Nebraska-bound

Dan and I are flying to Nebraska for the weekend! We have some friends getting married on Saturday and they've asked Dan to be an usher and his wife to do the photography. [smile] We are looking forward to rejoicing with them, as well as having a few days to hang out with family!
