Where I can post my thoughts, my photographs, and what the Lord is teaching me. May it be a blessing to you, and help you meditate on that which is pure and lovely. "Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy -- meditate on these things." Philippians 4:8

who have been begging for more pictures of Charissa (you know who you are!!) here is a hodge-podge of pictures I've taken recently. I am quickly finding out that the more mobile she becomes, the less she sits still and wants to cooperates for pictures! Always on the go -- here is a glimpse in her life...

You know, there is nothing quite like skimming over the water at high rates of speed on an innertube. There is nothing quite like the water splashing in your face so you can't see the next big wave.

It's another wedding! If you remember back in May I was able to take Caleb and Abby's engagement pictures -- and they asked if I would photograph their wedding as well. Due to my family being in Michigan at that time, I had to turn it down.
But things develop and change! As the plans stands now Rachel and I will be flying back to Omaha on Friday, photograph the wedding for them on Saturday, and then fly out yet Saturday night to be back in Michigan for our family's Sunday morning service. It will be a huge weekend, thus, I am asking for your prayer support.
The wedding day isn't until October 6, yet there are many things I need to prepare beforehand. As Proverbs 21:31 says:

People have often told me that changes happen 'sooner that you think.' And though I've always known there was some truth in that, at the same time it is hard to fathom change until it happens!
But it happened this morning -- my only older brother left and is headed towards Wyoming. As excited as I am for the paths the Lord has directed him in, at the same time I am already missing him soooo bad!
So many memories! From getting stuck in the mud together at a wee age to seeing you go off on your own now, I've always looked up to you Josiah, and can't wait to see the plans God has for your future!
While you are gone, know that I am "always laboring for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God." Colossians 4:12
Last night you were just down the hall and I could give it in person, but now I must send my hugs and prayers across the many, many miles to you. I love you, big brother!

My blog was hacked...now I have no more secrets. (Okay, so maybe still a few!)
Rachel -- I do want to say a big thank you to you! Countless times you have spurred me on when I was discouraged, brainstorming with me when needing new ideas, and even putting me back together when I began falling apart from nervousness or stress. Specifically in the area of photography, so many of the favorite poses have been your ideas, and your ready smile and willingness to help have so blessed me! So a big thank you to you!!! I know I wouldn't be where I am today if it weren't for your love and help.
So many of you asked to see pictures of the winning photographs. And guess what?! You've already seen them! (Do you think I have enough pictures to take and keep a good one all to myself while keeping up this blog at the same time?!) I could make you search the archives for them, but to be nice I'll post the links for you...
The first assignment was an animal, and I sent in ::THE BABY DINOSAUR::
Secondly, they asked for a picture that would be of human interest; something that would be in a newspaper. The biggest human interest happenings I've photographed lately would have to be the testimony of our family's ::BUS CRASH::
And thirdly, just for fun, I also sent in a picture from when we were painting with light a while back; I chose the picture of ::ME, MYSELF, and I::
I was so surprised when I opened the envelope and saw the award -- and that is an understatement! I want to say thank you to all of you who have encouraged me along the way as I continue to learn, and may all glory be lifted unto the One who redeemed me, made me His own, and calls me according to His purpose.

"Every week hundreds of student Photo Projects arrive at NYI. Every week our teachers look at thousands of student photographs. Over the course of a year our staff reviews tens of thousands of student photographs.
Each week, perhaps ten to twelve student Photo Projects are forwarded to my office for review and consideration for a possible Merit Award. Some of those don't meet our high standards and hence they do not receive an Award.
Your project, however, was selected. You should be proud. It's a rare honor."
So, with my warmest congrats -- keep up the good work, Bethany!
"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might."Ecc. 9:10

Sometimes people are heard to say "Oh the Lord just gets better and better as the days go by!" But no, the Lord never changes! HE IS ALWAYS GOOD. It's just that we as people get to know Him better and better! I know I still have a lot to learn yet, but one thing I do know: God is good. All the time. Yes, there are sure to be trials, sorrows and tests down my path of life , but knowing this, I am still truly excited about living my life for my King. Oh how I love Him!
And of course....chocolate! For those wondering what the big thing with chocolate is....I am definitely the chocolate lover of the family. Knowing me, that is something that seems to surface very fast!
One more random fact: the family joke is that my eyes are so dark because of the chocolate I eat, and that I need to keep eating chocolate to maintain the color.
Savoring the moments, treasuring the memories...
Wherever you are, be all there. Live to the hilt every situation you believe to be the will of God.
Jim Elliot
"O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together!
O taste and see that the Lord is good:
blessed is the man that trusteth in Him."

Every great once in a while, (as in -- maybe once a year!) various family members gather around our table for a rousing game of "Balderdash." Given an unheard of word, it is amazing to find out what creative, ingenious, and crazy definitions the human mind can come up with in a relatively short time.
To test your word skills (and add a little humor!) I've posted just a few of the samplings...anyone care to guess the correct meanings?! (or who wrote the incorrect ones? [grin])

--when one hosts a party, wherein the invited people are from various nationalities
--to mold a roman candle holder
--to take something from a mashed state and make it solid again
--to net, entangle or to entrap
--tardy, late, to go somewhere
--the repeating of calling out, as in beckoning someone more than once

--a way to cool iron so as to make it soft
--to agree to something requested of one
--the first month in the Jewish calender
--a hand knitted tablecloth made in the late 1800's
--to be extremely frustrated
--the disease in which you toenails fall out due to lack of calcium
--when one's case is sentenced by a judge, only to have the defendant take his case to a higher court

"I will love thee, O Lord, my strength." Psalms 18:1
Thank You, Lord, for the blessings of a country with a Christian heritage and for those who have sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today. Thank you for Your Word, for family and friends, and for a time to enjoy it all!
A be-lated happy 4th of July to you all!
